Why Choose a Long Day Care Service over a Prep or Pre-School?
An early childhood setting is an ideal environment for your child to develop the qualities needed to succeed in all areas of life, including school. Children are provided with a play-based platform where educators support them to learn and develop the skills necessary for independence and primary school in an enjoyable way that inspires them to want to learn more. Significantly, it enhances their fundamental interest in education by allowing them to participate in their own unique learning experience.

The main benefit of enrolling in a Long Day Care Service is that we offer longer hours. This provides flexibility for working families and also enables Educators more time for programming, planning, and working with children individually.

Having children attend longer hours from a young age enables families and Educators to work together and to get to know each other better, thus giving your child the greatest chance to reach their full potential.
There is a misconception that Pre-Schools or Prep Schools offer a different School Readiness Program to Long Day Care Services. This is incorrect because like Pre-Schools, Long Day Care Services must follow the same mandatory Early Years Learning Framework curriculum with qualified Early Childhood Educators.

School Readiness and Educational Program
Supporting children’s school readiness is about assisting children to develop their skills in many areas such as literacy & numeracy, but even more importantly their social competence which is at the core of effective school transitions.
A program that closely observes and responds to children’s needs and interests, provides opportunities for encouraging the skills and attributes needed for starting school.
What you may see as “just play”, we see as your child learning skills through their play that will help them to become children with a strong sense of identity and wellbeing, who are connected to the world around them. Their play is providing the opportunities for your child to become a confident and involved learner, as well as a clear communicator.
We are big believers in providing your child with the foundations for learning. We believe that this will make their transition to school a smooth one.
With our extensive knowledge of what is taught in your child’s first year of kindergarten, we will be working on what foundational skills they require to make this transition smoother. Our dedicated educators work alongside your child, each with qualifications and experiences that have provided them with a wealth of knowledge and understanding in this area.
By supporting and encourage children’s overall growth and development we are providing the essential preparation that children need to start school.
Planning, Documenting and Evaluating
Under the National Quality Standard (NQS) “each child’s learning and development is assessed as a part of an ongoing cycle of planning, documenting and evaluation”. The cycle of planning, documenting and evaluating each child’s knowledge and skills includes - creating a learning program, developing quality interactions with children, interpreting and analysing learning and development for both groups and individual children and finally evaluation of the program.

We believe that this is best achieved through rich, detailed and meaningful observations that encompass the whole child and their learning. Our programming and planning is supported by the Early Years Learning Framework and our Educators use this to guide their decisions to interpret and assess children’s learning and development.
